Love the title and look forward to reading this book. Thank you for your lovely substack, and for posting the link on fb (for those of us trying to reduce emails). Best wishes for much continued success.

A lit candle. The baking of a vegan treat. Then ... celebration!
Yes! I suspect today, now that I've posted this, I should go ahead and ask the printer for an actual deadline. I am waiting on two final things: the Library of Congress metadata and one more blurb.
Thank you for sharing the steps and process as you birth this work to the world.
For the final days of this year I am preparing new paths for 2025. New works, new communications, returning to classes and ultimately to the working world. Lots of new, and it’s enthusing. 😊
New paths! I love this so much, A. Not just the concept of opening new ways forward but how it's creating enthusiasm. That, I fear, will be a scarce commodity in 2025.
Thank you, my friend. Not today--not quite. But soon. Today I shall send the "when is it due by" email and let myself feel accomplished because of that one click!
So exciting, Laura! I cannot wait to read. Thank you for sharing your publishing wisdom with us.
I'm also at the letting-go place with a novel that's coming out in June. It's both wonderful and terrifying to no longer be able to make changes. I'm shifting (sometimes grinding the gears) into working on the next book. But my big January writing task is creating an author website. (If anyone knows a good website designer, I'd be very grateful for a rec.)
Huge congrats, Laura! Wishing everyone happy writing in 2025!

So fun to see you here, Carolyn!
Yes--I totally get reducing emails as a necessity! I am always trying to balance seeing what I want and being totally overwhelmed by content!

Let it go, my friend. Let it go. I know how lovely it is. I've read it.

Oh...the nervous time, but the best time too: your book out in the world for all of us to enjoy and learn from and share.
Me: Surprise! I'm notes and scratches into a new novel. Loving it. It's been too long.
Happy New Year, Laura, to you and your family and Forest Avenue Press
